Panel: Personalized Medicine: The Next Health Care Frontier
It is now clear that most diseases have multiple causes, and hence may respond best with different therapies. With personalized medicines making up more than 25% of new approvals in 2015 and 42% of drugs in the pipeline, it is clear that after years of research the approach is bearing fruit. Many researchers from the entire biomedical research ecosystem contributed to the basic and translational science that made personalized medicine possible and the research to turn that knowledge into new treatments. This panel with discuss how far we have come in delivering on the promise of personalized medicine and what the future holds as we work to accelerate advances and get effective treatments into the hands of patients.
