I'm Not Average: Roxanne W.

Condition:
Heart Transplant Recipient

Age:
60

Location:
Nanuet, New York

Roxanne didn't realize she had experienced a silent heart attack until six weeks after it occurred. Today, she spends her live educating people about heart disease and the importance of recognizing early signs. Read and share her story!

In 2006 I had a silent heart attack. I walked around for 6 weeks before going to the hospital, only then I learned that I had had a heart attack. Looking back in the mirror and knowing what the signs are for women with heart disease, and that my family history is also a factor, I am lucky to be alive. I now spend all my time teaching people about heart disease not as a medical expert but as a survivor. I am a full-time volunteer for Live on New York signing up over 8,000 new organ donors and counting.
