While I was pregnant in 2005, I noticed some swelling and pain in my right calf. I went to see my doctor to get her opinion. An ultrasound revealed that the swelling was caused by a Deep Vein Thrombosis in my leg, and I was immediately admitted to the hospital. While I was in the hospital, a CT scan showed that I also had a Pulmonary Embolism, which can be deadly if not caught in time. The treatment provided by my doctor helped me recover from the clots while also protecting my baby. Thanks to my doctors and my medical treatment, my son is getting ready to turn 10, and we're both healthy and doing great. I regularly compete in triathlons and hope to race a Half Ironman next year. I feel fortunate that my doctor found the clot in time, and that the treatment I received helped me make a full recovery.
