Sarcoidosis is what killed Bernie Mac. It is also what took me down from an active man to 9 months of switching between my bed, couch, and the bathroom for potty breaks after the half mile walks I could barely sustain. Three times now Sarcoidosis put me on the couch for months at a time, unable to even lift a plate out of the sink to wash it and hospitalized me for a week as a complication to an infection that led to blood poisoning. Regardless, I refuse to give in to it and though it took me 6 years, I rode the 104 miles for the El Tour de Tucson last year and am about to do it a second time in spite of being couched yet again a few months ago. My life might be altered by this, but I'm not going to give into it. My advice? Keep moving. Even if it's slow, you're still moving faster than those that surrendered their life to the couch.
