When Marina was diagnosed with a rare, deadly stomach cancer in the late 1990’s, there were no effective treatments anywhere in the world.
After three more years of fruitless surgeries and chemotherapy, she prepared for the end, believing she’d never get to see her young children grow up.
But everything changed in the fall of 2000, when Marina enrolled in a clinical trial for a new, experimental treatment.
Today, in remission for more than 14 years, Marina celebrates the life she feared would once disappear. Her growing family does, too.
